How to Promote Your Wireless Store via Social Media and Email Marketing
Part 1: Converting your wireless store visitors into social media followers and email subscribers.
In this day and age you can bet that every customer of yours using social media in one form or another. Facebook is still strong among young audiences, and it’s growing tremendously among older generations too. High school and college kids use Instagram and Tumblr sometimes even more often than Facebook – those networks give them more freedom – their parents and teachers can’t find them so easily there! So, no matter who your customers are and what age group they belong to you can be sure they connect with their friends and brands on social media and you should definitely add it to your wireless store marketing plan!
In the first part we will talk about converting your wireless store visitors to social media followers/email subscribers and next part will be on how to generate new leads online.
Asking your customer to follow your page on Facebook or/and Instagram at the point of sale for an additional discount/gift.
Ameritel’s field representatives saw this tactic working great for some of our wireless dealers. It doesn’t matter what your customer buys: a new phone, new plan, or a small accessory to their smartphone; just ask them what social networks they are on most often and offer them to follow your store business page in exchange of an instant (or future) gift. It can be a 5% of their next purchase, an extended insurance from your store, maybe some small accessory to their phone, or really anything that makes sense for your cellular store. Make sure also to tell them that you constantly post new special deals and discounts on your social media.
If some of them are not active social media users or don’t have a Facebook or Instagram app installed you can ask them to download and install it to their phone right in the store – it’s really fast!
Email is still very important.
Make sure to collect customer emails. It’s actually even faster than make your customers to follow you on social media. To collect their email addresses you just need a pen and paper or an iPad/computer. Offer them the same motivation as with Facebook/Instagram example above. You can use one of the many email marketing web based programs out there to start your campaigns.
The advantage of this method is also the fact that most of the customers will receive your email (they may not open it, but will see it for sure), unlike many social networks like Facebook, where only selected followers see your updates.
Offer your customers to participate in sweepstakes!
Offering your customers to participate in your store sweepstakes on Facebook it’s a great way to take care of the three problems:
- It gets them to “Like” your Facebook page!
- When they enter a contest they will have to submit their email – so you will collect their email as well!
- You don’t have to give a gift/prize to each customer – just a winner (or a few winners) gets a nice prize!
There are many good quality web based programs to launch a successful Facebook or Instagram contest!
Advertise your social media on your window or inside the store.
Print “Like Us on Facebook/Instagram” banners and place them on your window or inside of your cell phone store. Don’t forget to mention URL of your page and a call to action (again, discounts, prizes, and so on).
Example of a great call to action on your “Like Us on Facebook” poster will be advertising your sweepstakes (especially if it has a nice prize). For example: “Join our Facebook sweepstakes! Winner will get a free upgrade to iPhone 6 or Samsung Galaxy S6!” I would definitely join these sweepstakes! Would you?
